NEVERLAND TEA SALON, Vancouver - Kitsilano - Menu, Prices, Restaurant Opinions & Reservations - Tripadvisor

It had been over a year since my last Afternoon Tea adventure, so when my partner urged we attempt the Neverland Tea Salon, I jumped at the chance. Afternoon Tea is purported to be a enjoyable and leisurely affair, and the COVID pandemic is anything but. We arrived ten minutes before opening (11AM), so had to wait outside for a couple of moments. As soon as we hit the magical opening hour, although, my accomplice and i - plus various other patrons - have been promptly seated all through the establishment. We were given a nice window seat, good for people-watching. Our server was prompt, giving us the menus and detailing the varied Afternoon Teas available. In addition to the full tea (“Grande Adventure”), Neverland additionally presents the “Demi-Tea,” which is mainly the same because the “Grande,” though served on a smaller scale and sans the “never-ending” pots of tea. In addition they serve vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free variations of the Afternoon Tea, which is fairly unique in my experience - and I’ve patronized plenty of tea homes clear throughout the nation. After a quick second of consideration, we ended up going for the Grande Tea, which comes in at a really reasonable $45/individual. I very much respect the ambiance that’s been established at Neverland. The interior has been described as “whimsical, creative and classy” by Foodgressing and, I have to say, I’m inclined to agree. While it’s not quite to the level of the Vancouver Fairmont’s themed Teas, Neverland’s ambiance remains distinctive due to the inclusion of JM Barrie’s Peter Pan quotes along the walls; the little tea cups strung from above (“floating”); and the whimsy in some of the tea blends. Briefly, there’s an air of magic all through the area, but it’s one which avoids turning into cheesy or tacky. Importantly, none of that is impeded by the COVID-19 protocols in place: Hand-sanitizer upon entry, reduced seating, plexiglass boundaries erected between tables, using masks when not seated at a desk. We received our 3-tiered tower in good time - approximately 10 minutes. The lower tier contained the entire savoury objects: Thai crimson curry egg salad, truffle mushroom duxelle with port salut cheese on a heat croissant, lemon-herb mascarpone, cucumber & arugula, tarragon chicken salad w/ candied walnuts & salt roasted pears, and Montreal smoked beef. Of the savouries, I’d say the hen salad sandwich was my favorite. The bread was gentle and fluffy, the hen was ample, and that i enjoyed the slight sweetness and crunch offered by the walnuts and roasted pears. It was, as they say, a proverbial get together within the mouth! The center tier featured the sweets: Mandarin meringue tart, hazelnut mocha gateau, chestnut & vanilla choux, and a white chocolate mousse. Of these items, I most loved the meringue tart and hazelnut mocha gateau. The tart had a extra subtle sweetness to it whereas the mocha gateau was comfortable, creamy and rich - although a bit troublesome to choose up!  Haircut Vancouver  found the choux pastry somewhat dry regardless of its nice presentation. Finally, the higher tier featured the classic citrus scones with Devonshire cream and house-made strawberry jam. The scones had been fluffy and buttery on the inside with a delicate trace of citrus. The crystalized sugar atop the scone helped to present sweetness to it, but it surely was nearly too much. The strawberry jam proved to be the proper complement to the wealthy Devonshire. Your complete Grande Tea went properly with my tea selection, the Tinkerbell’s Kiss (kiwi & strawberry), which was fragrant and a real delight. All throughout service, the employees were attentive regardless of clearly being busy. Contrary to otemankatia’s experience, we didn't feel as if “we had a timer on the table.” We have been suggested of the 90-minute coverage upon being seated, but nothing extra. Really, 1.5 hours is loads of time to get pleasure from a enjoyable experience. Food: 4/5 SERVICE: 4/5 Worth: 5/5 Suggestion: I feel it says one thing about an institution when, even amidst a pandemic, the entire out there seating will get taken up shortly after opening. And why not? In such tough times, we do want a little bit magic and relaxation in our lives. Neverland Tea Salon affords us this by their effective and honest mixture of ambiance, service and good meals.
